Campaign | Transit

21st Century Transportation

Our highways are plagued with congestion, regardless of how many we build or how quickly we expand them. Pollution is a growing problem, with more of our children being affected by asthma. And a strong economy relies on having strong infrastructure.

Affordable Higher Education

A college degree is practically a necessity these days, not only for the individual student, but for the economic and social health of the country. But as states cut budgets, and grant aid has diminished, students are relying on loans to pay for college.

Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness

We know we can live in a world where everyone has a roof over their head, enough food to eat and access to clean drinking water. Unfortunately, despite some advances we’re far from this vision.

Campaign | Energy

Energy Efficient Arizona

Energy efficiency is the quickest, cheapest and cleanest way for Arizona to meet its growing energy needs. Energy efficiency offers an immediate, proven and important step consumers and businesses can take to save money, stimulate the local economy through spending saved money, create jobs in weatherization and other services, and protect public health.

Energy Service Corps

Energy Service Corps helps people save energy, save the environment and save money all at the same time. We do that first by educating communities about energy efficiency -- in schools, at community events, and even at people's doorsteps! We also assist communities through service projects and events that help homeowners, local non-profits, and public officials achieve greater energy efficiency right away, sealing leaks around doors and windows, replacing old lightbulbs with more efficient CFLs and referring homeowners to local energy audit and retrofit services. In several states Energy Service Corps runs in partnership with AmeriCorps.

Campaign | Democracy, Higher Ed

New Voters Project

The New Voters Project is a nonpartisan effort to help register young people and get them to the polls on Election Day. We believe the best way to get political leaders to pay attention to young people and our issues is to register and vote.

Stop Subsidizing Obesity

Student Consumer Action Network

After Wall Street practices brought down the entire U.S. and parts of the world economies, Congress finally stepped up in July 2010 and enacted the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The centerpiece of this landmark legislation is the creation of the Student PIRG-backed Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), a new agency that will act as a counterbalance to the banks and ensure that the credit cards, mortgages, and student loans that consumers use are safe and easy to understand. As of July 21, 2010, when you have a complaint about a bank or credit card company, you can call on the new CFPB, which is already online at www.ConsumerFinance.gov.

Campaign | Sustainability

Sustainable U

The way we live our lives is putting our environment and public health at risk.  Nearly all of our energy comes from sources that cause air pollution, mining and drilling pollution and contribute to global warming.  But we have solutions to these problems and students on campuses around the country are getting them put into practice and building long term support for energy solutions.

Sustainable U

The way we live our lives is putting our environment and public health at risk.  Global warming, caused largely by our reliance on fossil fuels, threatens to wreak havoc on our climate and way of life.  Air pollution causes asthma and respiratory diseases.  Mining and drilling continually threaten our oceans, waterways and landscapes.  Trash pollutes our water and uses valuable land.
